A California Adventure, Disney Style

In our 3 days at the Happiest Place on Earth, we spent one and a bit days at California Adventure Park, which is the most recent of the two parks that make up Disneyland. While there was still the presence of The Mouse and his cohorts, it is more the domain of the Pixar creations - Toy Story, Bugs Life, and Cars.

Out of the 8 themed 'lands', we probably spent as much time in Cars Land (mostly standing in queues for the rides!) as we did in the rest of the park. Hardly surprising, considering that it has only been open since June this year, and is a replica of one of the most profitable franchises under the Disney umbrella.

Calum and his hero. With Cam, of course ;)

Waiting in the queue for the Radiator Springs Racers...

The park isn't all about Pixar, though...
There's The Muppets:
 Hollywood Land:
Don't be fooled - the lamp post and the corner buildings are real, but street behind the rope is painted on a wall!
 The Twilight Zone:

The Disney 'Originals' - Minnie's Flight School and Goofy's Pilot Training:

Paradise Pier, with Mickey's Fun Wheel and the 'California Screaming' roller coaster:

View from the top of the ferris wheel - out over the park to suburban Anaheim:

Grizzly Peak, with it's Grizzly River Run:
Calum and Cam enjoying the ride.
The end result.....
Phineas and Ferb's Dance Party:

And last but not least, the Pixar Parade, featuring Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, and Toy Story:

Every night in Hollywood Land there is also the 'Mad T Party' - a DJ and / or a band, disco lights, Alice in Wonderland characters, a games arcade, a couple of bars... We spent probably 1/2 hour at the Mad T Party, Cam loving getting his groove on to the tunes and with a couple of the characters.

Stay tuned for the rest of our Disney adventure to the original Disneyland. Coming soon to a blog near you.
