The Happiest Place on Earth

The rest of our Disney adventure was at the original Disneyland park, of course. We spent part of each of our three Disney days at this park.

Now, when the holiday was being planned, I wasn't overly fussed about going to Disneyland - not really a big fan of The Mouse and friends. But after being there, I would definitely go back! Although, next time I'd do splash mountain at the end of the day, just before leaving. That way, I won't have to wander around the park all day with (a minimum) wet, soggy feet! Did I also mention that this was my first time on a roller coaster (albeit on water rather than rails), and it was just a tad scary, especially that last drop over the falls? Don't believe me? Look at the third photo.....
Calum wringing the excess water out of his socks. Hint - don't sit at the front of the boat!

There was so much to see and do at Disney - heaps of rides and adventures, for all levels of adrenaline junky.
a slow riverboat down the 'Mississippi' ...
a spin in a tea cup...
a casual ride in a horse-pulled tram with the screams of the Matterhorn in the background...
the Matterhorn....

There were heaps of characters to meet, too, although the kids only snuggled up to meet Brer Bear. There were too many little kids in the queues to meet Pooh Bear, Tigger and Eeyore to bother lining up. Besides, there was so much to see and do!

Main Street:
the Jungle Book cruise
Tarzan's Tree House

monorail ride on the first monorail in the world
a shrubbery Dumbo!
The Disneyland railroad
Snow White's grotto
Don't forget the Big Parade!
Aladdin and Jasmine
Ariel

princesses
more princesses

Mary Poppins

... where you can soak up the atmosphere and eat Mickey's head! (or ice creams shaped like it, at least...)

If you want a little more adventure, you could always join the Jedi Training Academy, and have a lesson from a Sith Lord (?!)

... or take a Star Tour with C3PO and R2D2.

At night time (weekends only), enjoy the lights and the fireworks over Sleeping Beauty's castle:

The serenity of an early morning at Disney, before all the crowds descend:

If you can pull out the sword, you're the next King! Unfortunately, that's not in Cam's future...

I think that just about covers our time at Disneyland. Who knows, maybe we'll even get back there one day. Because when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true!
